Sep 20 2007, 5:34 AM EDT I enjoy sharing with people that I was dx with add about 3 years ago, I'm now 41. I get asked a lot of questions and feel I've provided them with info. either they had that was not quite right or enlightened them some way. I volunteer a lot in the local elementary school and when I educate people about the some of the signs in girls (my daughter was dx with adhd); although in school she was "perfect", I swear you can see lightbulbs switch on in their heads. I love to tell kids I know that have add/adhd that I have it too. What a relief for them, wow she is okay. I like to tell them how scientists now think some our greatest inventors had add/adhd, such as Einstein, etc. That is so cool to them. School can be so frustrating to a kid w/adhd, but to have people say, "hey, I have what you have and I'm okay." and guess who else probably had it? All these really cool, famous people. The eyes look up, shine bright and they say "really?!!" 8 out of 11 found this valuable. Do you? |
